Self Defense

Effective Self-Defense For Today’s World

Imagine being completely confident in your ability to protect yourself or your loved ones in any kind of self-defense scenario you can think of: a knife attack, a multiple person assault, a takedown to the ground, or a close-quarters attack in your car. These are the kinds of scenarios White Dragon will train you to handle decisively.

What makes the training at White Dragon so effective is our hands-on approach to teaching self-defense. When you work one-on-one with your own highly skilled instructor, you’re able to practice a wide variety of self-defense techniques with realistic force without the risk of injuring yourself or another student. Using this training method, we help students develop the kind of reflexes they can depend on in life-threatening situations. It’s quite simply the best way to learn self-defense. Plus, it’s fun!

A Time Tested System of Self-Defense

White Dragon made a name for itself teaching Choy Li Fut Kung Fu, one of the world’s most effective systems of self-defense. For almost four decades we’ve been a top choice for many law enforcement, U.S. military, and professional security personnel. In addition, we’ve provided self-defense training for dozens of charter schools, women’s groups and companies.

What separates White Dragon from all the rest, is our singular focus on teaching only the most effective self-defense techniques from the world of Chinese martial arts. From close-in fighting moves using elbows, knees, throws and takedowns, to longer range techniques like strikes, kicks and leg sweeps; from ground fighting submission holds, to jointlocking and pressure point techniques, you’ll learn everything you’ll need to stop a violent attack. Modern Martial Arts: Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga & Kenpo

Did you know that the self-defense techniques found in many of today’s most popular martial arts such as Krav Maga and Jiu-Jitsu were derived from traditional Kung-Fu systems like Choy Li Fut? Modern systems of martial arts aim to distill the self-defense knowledge of traditional Kung-Fu in order to adapt them to the needs of today.

However, systems like Krav Maga, Kenpo, and even Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu often leave out important techniques and practices found in traditional Kung-Fu that are essential in producing a well rounded and fully capable martial artist. For example, how would a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or submission grappler handle a multiple person attack or an armed assailant? Would the Muay Thai Kickboxing, Karate, or Boxing student be comfortable fighting on the ground, or would he or she be helpless to stop a submission grappler? Food for thought, or yet another reason to train at White Dragon?
